Bryce Harper wins NL Rookie of the Year

Bryce Harper's ridiculous rookie season, one of the best in major league history by a teenager, just got an exclamation point put on the end of it. Harper has won the National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year award, voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The announcement was made live on MLB Network. In an incredibly close vote, Harper got 16 first-place votes to 12 for Wade Miley, who finished in second place in the voting. Overall, Harper earned 112 points, while Miley received 105. Reds infielder Todd Frazier finished third with 45 points. Check out the voting info here. Harper led NL rookies in runs (98), total bases (254), triples (9), extra-base hits (57), multi-hit games (45) and outfield assists (8). He ranked second in home runs (22) and stolen bases (18) and fourth in RBIs (59) and OPS (.817). The Nationals' center fielder was twice named NL Rookie of the Month - getting the honors in May and September - and was selected as an All-Star as a 19-year-old. He is the youngest position player to ever win the Rookie of the Year. Angels center fielder Mike Trout won the American League Rookie of the Year award by a unanimous vote. More to come.
