Detwiler not perfect, but not far from it (Captain Hook strikes again)

Mark Ellis ended Ross Detwiler's perfect night with a solo homer leading off the fourth inning. Outside of that, the Dodgers have done almost nothing against Detwiler thus far. The Nationals lefty has faced just two over the minimum through five innings, needing just 63 pitches to get to this point. He has a 4-1 lead going to the sixth. Detwiler was absolutely dominant in his first three innings of work, retiring all nine hitters he faced, with four strikeouts. It was a fairly small sample size, yes, but that was probably the best Detwiler has been this season. He got Ellis and Matt Kemp swinging in the top of the first, needing just three pitches to set down Ellis leading off the game. He then got Hanley Ramirez to swing wildly at a tight 82 mph slider and struck out A.J. Ellis in the fourth. Detwiler hasn't worked into the eighth inning once this season, but if he can keep things going at this pace, he might be able to stay on the mound for quite a while. The lefty has gotten four runs to work with, as the Nats brought two runs across in both the third and fourth innings. Ryan Zimmerman doubled in a run in the third and then scored on a Chris Capuano wild pitch, and Danny Espinosa added an RBI double in the third before coming in on a Kurt Suzuki sac fly. Update: Davey Johnson likes jokingly referring to himself as "Captain Hook" because he often pulls his starting pitchers from games when they still have something left in the tank. Captain Hook struck again tonight. Johnson pulled Detwiler after six innings of work despite the fact his lefty had thrown just 82 pitches. Detwiler wasn't nearly as strong in his final few innings as he was in the first three, but he had still allowed just one run on three hits and one walk. He leaves with a 4-1 lead.
