Escobar returns, Zimmerman sits (with lineups)

Yunel Escobar returns to the Nationals lineup this afternoon after missing the past two games with a sore right wrist. Escobar injured his wrist on a check swing in the first inning of Thursday's loss to the Cubs and immediately left the game. Nationals manager Matt Williams has Escobar slated to bat second and playing third base with Anthony Rendon still in the cleanup role and at second base.

Tyler Moore starts at first base today as Ryan Zimmerman gets a day off. Zimmerman, still hampered by plantar fasciitis, is mired in a 1-for-22 slump.

Right-handers Jordan Zimmermann and Kyle Hendricks will square off for the second time this season. On May 26, Hendricks helped his Cubs to a 3-2 victory over the Nats at Wrigley Field. The only run he allowed in seven innings was a solo homer to Bryce Harper. Hendricks is 1-2 with a 3.99 ERA in 10 starts this year.
