Game 114 lineups: Nats at Mets

Well, the opener of this evening's pseudo-doubleheader did not go as the Nationals would've hoped. Despite twice holding a three-run lead, they wound up losing to the Mets 8-7, done in by an inexperienced bullpen that is suddenly being asked to pitch high-leverage innings against a team still in the pennant race.

They'll have to hope for a better result in the nightcap, a scheduled seven-inning game that is supposed to begin at 8 p.m. but is now being delayed because of another big storm cell approaching New York, much like Tuesday night.

Whenever they do get going, it'll be reliever Andres Machado on the mound for the Nationals, who are treating this as a bullpen game. Machado, who at one point today was warming up to possibly appear in the first game, probably isn't going to be good for more than an inning or two, tops. So look for several other arms to make an appearance along the way.

Rainey-Delivers-Gray-Sidebar.jpgIncluded in that group could be Tanner Rainey, who has been added as the 27th player for this game fresh off three relief appearances for Triple-A Rochester following his demotion. We'll see how quickly Davey Martinez tries to get the right-hander back into action.
