Game 23 lineups: Nats at Cardinals

ST. LOUIS - It's been raining steadily here since late last night, and more is expected later today. But there does appear to be a potential window of opportunity for the Nationals and Cardinals to play the second game of their weekend series, in between the two cycles of precipitation. We'll see.

If and when they do play, Joe Ross will be on the mound for the first time in 10 days, his last start having been cut short after only two innings due to a blister on his right middle finger. Rather than take a chance, the Nationals decided to skip Ross' turn altogether and push him back to this game. So the blister hopefully has had ample time to heal.

Left-hander Jaime Garcia starts for St. Louis, and that could be a good matchup for the Nats lineup, which is heavy on right-handed hitters and boasts to left-handed hitters in Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy who fare quite well against lefties. It's still a small sample, but the Nationals so far this season have a collective .847 OPS against left-handers (as opposed to .659 against righties).
