Game 48 lineups: Nats at Mets

NEW YORK - The Nationals have touted Erick Fedde as a potential long-term piece of their rotation since the day they used a first round pick on him in 2014. The right-hander will get his latest opportunity to prove he's ready for that responsibility tonight when he takes the mound at Citi Field.

Fedde-Delivers-Gray-Wide-Sidebar.jpgPressed into starting duties after Aníbal Sánchez landed on the injured list with a strained hamstring, Fedde makes his first big league start of 2019, the 15th of his career. He has pitched well in five relief appearances over the last few weeks, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.031 WHIP. But this, of course, is a different animal. Fedde needs to show he can be successful multiple times through the lineup.

The Nationals, meanwhile, are facing Zack Wheeler yet again. This is his 10th start of the season, his fourth against the Nats. He has given up 13 earned runs in six starts against everybody else; he's given up 17 in his three previous starts against Washington.
