Gio Gonzalez aims to end season on high note (with lineups)

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Gio Gonzalez heads to the mound for the final time this season in the first game of today's doubleheader with the Mets. Like many Nationals, Gonzalez's year has been filled with inconsistencies.

The left-hander is 11-8 with a 3.93 ERA over 30 starts this season. Gonzalez has been stellar against the Mets this year, going 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 19 strikeouts in three starts.

With three games to play, Bryce Harper's .331 batting average continues to lead the National League by two points over Miami's Dee Gordon. Harper is limping down the stretch with only one hit in his last 15 at-bats.

Mets rookie right-hander Noah Syndergaard beat Washington 5-2 on Aug. 2 at Citi Field. The only two Nats' runs came on solo homers from Anthony Rendon and Yunel Escobar.
