Lobaton's homer gives Nats first lead (Nationals win 5-2)

Well, it didn't take long for the Dodgers to take a lead in Game 2 of the National League Division Series. And they followed a familiar script.

Corey Seager, the second batter of the game, blasted a 93 mph 3-0 fastball from Tanner Roark over the wall in right-center for a 1-0 lead. Seager did the same in Friday's series opener, connecting off Max Scherzer. This time, he went deep three pitches after Roark sailed an uh-oh pitch over his helmet.

The wind didn't really aid Seager's shot, but pay close attention to the gusty winds swirling around Nationals Park. In the Dodgers first, Nationals center fielder Trey Turner roamed way over to left field to back up Jayson Werth, just in case a fly ball got blown off course at the last second.

Dodgers lefty Rich Hill struck out the side in the Nationals first. The Dodgers have a 1-0 lead after one inning.

Update: Roark extricated himself from a bases-loaded one-out jams in the second and third, but the Dodgers scored another run off him in the third for a 2-0 edge.

With one out in the third, Justin Turner walked and went to second on Adrian Gonzalez's single to left. Josh Reddick followed with an RBI single to right. After Joc Pederson was intentionally walked to load the bases, Roark coaxed Yasmani Grandal to bounce into an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.

Update II: For the first time in this series, the Nationals have a lead, courtesy of a three-run home run from Jose Lobaton.

Hill, who had fanned seven through three innings, walked Daniel Murphy to lead off the fourth, then got two quick outs. But the lefty then plunked Danny Espinosa for the second time in as many at-bats and Lobaton followed by lofting a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left. It's the second career postseason homer for the light-hitting catcher.

After four innings, the Nationals lead 3-2. Roark is back out for the fifth, and he's at 79 pitches.

Update III: Roark departed with one down in the fifth, after yielding singles to Justin Turner and Reddick. Marc Rzepczynski is on in relief.

Rzepczynski got out of the inning after walking pinch-hitter Yasiel Puig. He fanned Grandal swinging and got pinch-hitter Howie Kendrick to line out to left.

Roark worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout. He threw 85 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Update IV: Murphy's RBI single in the fifth put the Nationals up 4-2 and knocked Hill out of the game.

Trea Turner led off the frame with a single to center and stole second. Bryce Harper singled Turner to third and, after Werth popped out to first, Murphy blooped a single to center to plate Turner. Pedro Baez came on and lucked into an inning-ending double play. Rendon skied out to short left field and Kendrick's throw home beat Bryce Harper.

Hill went 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 87 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Update V: Murphy came through again in the seventh, delivering a two-out RBI single to plate Werth, who had doubled to center.

Update VI: Mark Melancon got the final three outs, capping a sterling effort by the Nationals bullpen, which recorded 14 outs in a 5-2 victory. The NLDS is tied at a one game apiece and now shifts to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4.
