Nationals announce 2018 spring training schedule

The Washington Nationals announced their 32-game 2018 Spring Training schedule on Monday, featuring 15 home games at their spring home, The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Nationals will begin their 2018 Grapefruit League slate at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, serving as the "road team" on Feb. 23 vs. Houston. They will play their first true road game the following day, taking the short 12-mile trek north to face the Miami Marlins in Jupiter, Fla., on Feb. 24.

Washington will host its first home game in at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches on Sunday, Feb. 25, against the Atlanta Braves.

The Nationals' 15-game home slate will feature seven contests against National League East foes (Miami, New York, and Atlanta), as well as match-ups against the St. Louis Cardinals (March 11, 16, & 25), and Detroit Tigers (March 4). The Nationals will also serve as the road team in three games against the Astros at the shared stadium.

Washington and Houston will play each other seven times during the Grapefruit League slate with the Nationals hosting on March 6, March 15, March 21, and March 23, while the Astros will serve as the home team on Feb. 23, March 3, and March 10.

For fans planning a visit to the Nationals' spring home, from March 8-17 Washington will play seven of eight games at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. While this stretch includes two team off days, the only trip Washington will make in that 10-day span will be to Lakeland, Fla., to face the Tigers on March 12. Otherwise, the Nationals will welcome the Mets, Cardinals, and Astros in the bevy of home match-ups. Furthermore, the only other "road" contest in that stretch will be against Houston on March 10.

While the Nationals will travel to Orlando twice to play the Braves (Feb. 26 and March 1), and to Lakeland once to visit the Tigers (March 12), they will only trek outside of Palm Beach County on three other occasions all spring: March 2, 4 and 22 when they visit the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie.

The Nationals' 2018 spring schedule will conclude back in D.C. on March 27 when Washington welcomes the Minnesota Twins to Nationals Park for an exhibition game before heading out to Cincinnati for Opening Day 2018.
