NATIONALS RECALL OF MATT DEN DEKKER, PLACE OF BEN REVERE ON 15-DAY DISABLED LIST

The Washington Nationals recalled outfielder Matt den Dekker from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday and placed outfielder Ben Revere on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 5) with a right oblique strain. President of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

den Dekker, 28, joins the Nationals before having a chance to appear in a game with Triple-A Syracuse, where he was optioned at the conclusion of spring training. The left-handed hitting outfielder hit .300 (12-for-40) with two doubles, two triples, four RBIs, five walks, two stolen bases and nine runs scored in 21 Grapefruit League contests.

Acquired by the Nationals on March 30, 2015, den Dekker is coming off a 2015 season in which he set career marks in home runs (five), RBIs (12), batting average (.253), slugging percentage (.485), OPS (.800) and games played (55). He posted a .512 slugging percentage against right-handed pitching (four doubles, a triple and five home runs) and hit .222 (4-for-18), with a double, home run, two RBIs and two walks as a pinch-hitter.

Revere, 27, was acquired by Washington on Jan. 8, 2016. He hit .306 with 22 doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 45 RBIs, 31 stolen bases and 84 runs scored in 152 games in 2015 between the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays.
