We're three innings deep, and there's no score at Citi Field. Washington's Jordan Zimmermann and New York's Bartolo Colon are putting up zeros all around.
The Nationals had a threat brewing in the top of the third when Wilson Ramos doubled and Kevin Farndsen singled, putting runners on the corners with no one out. But Zimmermann and Michael A. Taylor struck out and Asdrubal Cabrera grounded out to short to end the rally.
Heading to the fourth, it's 0-0.
Update: Kevin Frandsen dropped a fly ball off the bat of Travis d'Arnaud, and the error scored Lucas Duda, who had singled with two down. It's 1-0 heading to the top of the fifth.
Update II: In the seventh, Adam LaRoche led off with a double and Ian Desmond singled up the middle and went to second when center fielder Juan Lagares missed the cutoff man. With runners on second and third, Bryce Harper tied the game with a sac fly to right, scoring LaRoche.
A single by Ramos put runners on the corners for Frandsen, who redeemed himself with a sac fly to left, plating Desmond for a 2-1 lead.
Update III: The Nats are not helping their own cause with the glove tonight, and committed two more errors in the seventh. But they got out of a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the seventh without relinquishing a run.
Duda reached on a ball that went through LaRoche and, after d'Arnaud flew out, Matt den Dekker's single put runners on first and second. With Lagares batting, the runners moved up a base when Ramos sailed a pickoff through wildly past first. Lagares walked to load the bases, and Drew Storen relieved Zimmermann. Wilmer Flores grounded out into a fielder's choice forceout at home and pinch-hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis struck out swinging.
Zimmermann was charged with an unearned run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked none and fanned four.
Update IV: Cabrera's solo homer in the eighth extended Washington's lead to 3-1. It's his 10th of the season, and his first as a National.
Update V: It's a 3-2 final, giving the Nats a series win against the Mets. d'Arnaud homered off closer Rafael Soriano leading off the ninth for the other Mets run. The Mets had runners on second and third with one out, but Soriano wiggled out of the jam.
