Nats pitchers and catchers set to report Feb. 14

Need a little something to warm you up on this most frigid day of the winter? Here's some news that might do the trick: Spring training begins in 41 days.

The Nationals announced their official reporting dates this afternoon, at which point we learned there are fewer than six weeks to go until we'll be seeing and hearing the sights and sounds of the spring in West Palm Beach.

The first full-squad workout will be held Feb. 21, which offers precious little time for everyone to get ready for Grapefruit League play.

The Nationals' first exhibition is slated for Feb. 23 against the World Series champion Astros, who share the two-year-old complex with Washington. That means there will be only two days of formal, full-squad workouts, though many position players are expected to arrive before their official report date, offering more opportunities.

Workouts, which are held on the practice fields outside the stadium, are free and open to the public.
