NatsTown Green-Up

Here in this Nats Buzz space, I often have the opportunity to write about the many ways that Nationals players and front office staff give back to the community around Nationals Park and in the greater Washington D.C. metro area. Well, on July 30th, you can get involved right alongside those players and front office staff in an effort to "green-up" the area around the ballpark. The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation is teaming up with the Earth Conservation Corps to host a NatsTown Green-up, giving residents, local businesses and Nationals fans an opportunity to clean up the neighborhood surrounding Nationals Park. More than 100 volunteer from the Nationals front office, Alion Science and Technology and various military branches and federal agencies will work on areas at 2000 Half Street, SW, the intersection of 1st and Q Streets, SW and the intersection of 3rd and I Streets, SW for about four hours on Friday morning cleaning and beautifying the neighborhoods. Nationals pitchers Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen are scheduled to join the volunteers for portions of the morning clean-up. Each volunteer will receive a commemorative Green-Up t-shirt, courtesy of Waste Management, as well as two tickets to Sunday's Dream Foundation Day at Nationals Park when the team hosts the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:35 p.m. Volunteers should report to the Matthew Henson Center at 8 a.m. to get their assignments. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. at Nationals Park, sponsored by Hard Times Cafe.
