Rain postpones tonight's game, makeup scheduled for Thursday (updated)

Persistent rain forced the postponement of tonight's game between the Nationals and Orioles. The two teams will make up the game this Thursday at 4:05 p.m.

The Nationals and Orioles will play Tuesday and Wednesday with both games scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.

Update: Nationals manager Matt Williams only chose to announce his starter for tomorrow's game. Left-hander Gio Gonzalez, who was set to go tonight, will start Tuesday night's game.

With tonight's game scheduled to be made up on Thursday, the Nats could potentially skip right-hander Tanner Roark in the rotation. Right-hander Max Scherzer was scheduled to pitch Wednesday. Williams could keep his ace in that spot and move righty Jordan Zimmermann up to start Thursday's game.

"Given the rainout, we can look at some things," Williams said. "We're in the process of doing that."

Williams indicated that he'll disclose more on his starters before tomorrow's game.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter will stick with his rotation, throwing right-handers Ubaldo Jimenez, Chris Tillman and Tyler Wilson the next three days.
