Seven Nationals file for salary arbitration

All seven of the Nationals who are eligible have exercised their right to file for salary arbitration. According to the Major League Baseball Players Association, Friday was the deadline, and the sides must exchange figures by Tuesday.
Right-handers Jordan Zimmermann and Tyler Clippard, catcher Jesus Flores, first baseman/outfielder Michael Morse, and left-handers John Lannan, Tom Gorzelanny and Gio Gonzalez beat the deadline. The period for filing began Jan. 5 and MLBPA reports that 142 players did so.
From the Nationals' perspective, this is an expected formality. The team and players will exchange salary figures and, if no deal can be hammered out, will go before a third-party arbitrator between Feb. 1-21 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
We examined who was most likely from this group to get a multi-year extension earlier this week (though I neglected to include Gonzalez, acquired last month in a trade with the A's, as one of the Nationals' arbitration-eligible players).
