Skipper ready for full-squad workouts to begin

VIERA, Fla. - The Nationals will hold their first full-squad workout Saturday morning, and manager Davey Johnson will hold a team meeting beforehand to make sure everyone's on the same page. With high expectations for the Nats, the skipper is eager to get the next phase of camp under way. "We become a team, we become whole," Johnson said. "I have not seen half of them swing the bat, take a ground ball, throw." After spending the bulk of his time the past week focusing on the pitching staff, Johnson will finally get some time to spend with his position players. Bench coach Randy Knorr and Triple-A manager Tony Beasley will be in charge of fields where drills will be conducted. Johnson will bounce back and forth, acquainting himself with the new arrivals since the end of last season. "Anybody that's in this camp, I'm under the assumption that they can possibly help us this year, either at the start or the end of the year" Johnson said. "So I want to get a good read and relationship with them all."
