Starting lineups: Nats vs. Tigers in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. - Hello from Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, spring home of the Detroit Tigers since 1966 but looking as beautiful as ever right now following a major renovation this winter. They really did a nice job modernizing what already was one of the great, traditional spring training ballparks in Florida.

The Nationals made the long drive (nearly three hours) here for today's game, their lone trip to Lakeland this spring. The lineup doesn't include many prominent names - Michael A. Tayor is batting third, with Adam Lind hitting cleanup - but the focus today probably will be on the man on the mound.

Joe-Ross-throwing-red-away-sidebar.jpgJoe Ross makes his first start of the spring, looking to get his 2017 off on a positive note and erase the frustrating memories of his injury-plagued 2016. Ross will face a real test today, with a bunch of Tigers regulars in the lineup, including Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Ian Kinsler.
