Strasburg officially to DL, Cedeno called up from Triple-A (with lineups)

The Nationals have officially placed Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list this afternoon, retroactive to June 1, because of a strained right lat. That puts both of the Nats' star No. 1 picks, Bryce Harper and Strasburg, on the DL at the same time. To take Strasburg's place on the roster, the Nats have recalled left-handed reliever Xavier Cedeno from Triple-A Syracuse. This will be Cedeno's second stint with the Nats, but he did not appear in a game during his previous one day with the club. He was claimed off waivers from the Astros on April 23 and was 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA in 14 relief appearances with Syracuse this season. The Nats went with Cedeno after using four relievers in yesterday's 10-1 loss to the Mets. The team could use an extra arm as insurance, especially with rookie Nathan Karns set to make his third start Friday. The Nationals won't need to make another roster move for a starter until Saturday, when starter Ross Ohlendorf is likely to be called up to make his team debut. Ohlendorf, a veteran of 108 major league games, is 4-5 with a 4.32 ERA in 12 games (11 starts) with the Chiefs this year. Anthony Rendon will start at second base again tonight for the Nats, with Steve Lombardozzi getting the start in left.
