Tanner Roark makes his third straight start since rejoining the Nationals rotation on Sept. 4. The right-hander has been limited to 69 pitches in each of his last two innings as he continues to stretch out after spending the majority of the season pitching out of the bullpen.
Roark has allowed three runs on 13 hits over nine innings in his last two outings. The 28-year-old is 2-3 with two holds, one save and a 2.35 ERA in 11 games, including five starts, in his career against the Marlins.
Yunel Escobar starts today after leaving last night's 12-2 win in the eighth inning with a tight hamstring. Escobar has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games, going 29-for-69 (.420) with four doubles, nine RBIs, seven walks and 12 runs scored. His .321 batting average is fourth best in the National League.
Tonight's game with the Marlins begins a 12-day, 11-game homestand for the Nationals, their final stretch of games in the nation's capital this season. Washington is 41-29 at home in 2015.
