A few notes from the final day of the minor league season

Single-A Delmarva catcher Chance Sisco capped off a strong first full season in pro ball by winning the batting title in the South Atlantic League, becoming the first Shorebird to ever do that.

The 19-year-old Sisco entered Monday with a four-point lead and did not play. He finished the year batting .340 with five homers, 63 RBIs and a .854 OPS.

In his final two games, Sisco went 5-for-7 with two doubles, a triple and a homer as his raised his average six points. His .340 mark is the best in the O's minors this year and is a new Delmarva team record.

The Shorebirds finished the 2014 season with a 66-73 record, the most wins since 2009. Delmarva saw several franchise records set, including seven midseason All-Star selections. Drew Dosch passed his manager, Ryan Minor, for the most hits by a Shorebird in a single season with 157.

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides finished 65-79 after a loss at Durham on Monday. Christian Walker finished as the O's minor league leader with 26 homers and 96 RBIs. Norfolk manager Ron Johnson fell one game under .500 with his career record with the season-ending loss and is now 1,477-1,478. The Tides 2015 opener is April 9 at Charlotte.

There have been 17 players to appear on the active roster for both the Tides and Orioles this season. They are pitchers Brad Brach, Kevin Gausman, Miguel Gonzalez, Preston Guilmet, Ubaldo Jimenez, T.J. McFarland, Evan Meek, Troy Patton, Ramon Ramirez, Josh Stinson and Ryan Webb; infielders Steve Lombardozzi, Jimmy Paredes, Cord Phelps and Jemile Weeks; and catchers Caleb Joseph and Steve Clevenger.

Double-A Bowie lost to Altoona on Monday to finish at 72-70. The Baysox finished one game out of an Eastern League playoff berth, but finished at .500 or better for the eighth straight season. The 2014 season was Bowie's 22nd as the Orioles' Double-A affiliate.

Single-A Frederick lost its season finale 6-1 to Potomac on Monday. The Keys were eliminated from playoff contention when they lost a doubleheader on Sunday. Frederick finished the year 65-71 and 33-37 in the second-half standings.

The short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds beat Hudson Valley in the final game to end at 27-48. O's 2014 top draft pick and third round selection Brian Gonzalez made his last two starts for Aberdeen after pitching in the Gulf Coast League. He went a combined nine innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Infielder Austin Anderson was named IronBirds team MVP. In 49 games he batted .307 with 12 doubles, a triple, a homer and 19 RBIs.
