NEW YORK - The Orioles and Yankees haven't posted their lineups for tonight's game. Waiting to find out whether J.J. Hardy is back at shortstop.
The Orioles collected 20 hits last night, their second-highest output in the Bronx in franchise history. They pounded out 22 hits on June 8, 1986.
The Orioles plated multiple runs in four different innings for the first time since April 25, 2013 against the Athletics, according to Elias.
According to Retrosheet, the last time the Orioles had all nine starters record a hit was Aug. 26, 2011 against the Yankees.
Masahiro Tanaka pitches tonight for the Yankees. Tanaka won his debut against Toronto, allowing two earned runs, walking none and striking out eight over seven innings. He went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles last year and has a 29-game regular-season winning streak on the line dating back to Aug. 19, 2012.
Major League Baseball is reviewing Adam Jones' comments yesterday about fans running onto the field. You can get a quick review here.
Jones competed in a giant donut-eating contest with hosts Melanie Iglesias and Chris Distefano on last night's episode of "Off the Bat from the MLB Fan Cave" on MTV2. Check it out here.
You can see the entire episode - which also includes a bit called "Yogi or Yeezy," in which Jones guesses whether a series of quotes were said by Yogi Berra or Kanye West, as well as a segment taped in Baltimore earlier this year - here.
The Orioles haven't announced their starters for the Blue Jays series that starts Friday night at Camden Yards, but Toronto is sending Dustin McGowan, Drew Hutchison and Mark Buehrle to the mound.
The Orioles bullpen has allowed eight earned runs in 26 innings for a 2.77 ERA. Relievers have walked eight and struck out 21.
Down in Sarasota, Manny Machado continues to perform baseball activities at the Ed Smith Stadium complex, except for running the bases and sprinting. He's doing agility drills and feels good.
There's no timetable for Machado to start running on the field. He's been using the pool treadmill.
Update: Jones was a guest today on "SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio" channel with Adam Schein and expanded upon his comments about fans running onto the field.
"You never know the intent of someone. You've got 50,000 people at the stadium, a lot of them are supposed to be having some drinks, enjoying the game as you're supposed to, but to put us in harm's way, you can hop from center field and come right behind us and we have no idea. A couple of years ago, a first base coach was assaulted by a father and son. That just shouldn't happen on the baseball field.
"I was saying those things out of anger. Obviously I don't condone violence or want to inflict any pain on anybody, but if you put me in danger, I have no choice.
"I would say, where you really hurt people nowadays is you hurt their pockets. If you suspend somebody (from being able to come to games), they're going to try to put on a disguise and do all this other stuff. But if you seriously go after their pockets, you don't even have to give them a charge, you are with trespassing, but you slap them with a nice $10,000 fine (or) $20,000 fine I'm pretty sure that's going to hurt the modern American. You need to set an example. ...
"Cuss us out, let us have it, give us a ribbing, remind us of our last five at-bats if they've been terrible, please do, but just stay off the field because you're just causing a problem that doesn't need to be caused."
