A rough patch for the starting pitching

Well, O's starters couldn't put up great numbers every night. Kevin Millwood and Chris Tillman have allowed 11 ER over 11 innings the last two games. After a stretch where O's starters recorded quality starts in nine of ten games, missing only when Brian Matusz left a game early after a line drive off his left arm, O's starters now have just one quality start over the past six games. Their ERA is 6.46 over that time. Probably just a bump in the road and let's see if Jeremy Guthrie can get them back on track this afternoon at Rogers Centre. The O's are now 0-7 there this year and have been out-scored 44-14 in those games. They have lost 12 in a row and 21 of their last 23 games at Toronto. It seems like the O's give up a lot of homers to the Blue Jays and they have allowed 30 to Toronto batters in 16 games. But another reason the O's are just 3-13 vs. the Blue Jays is that they've struggled vs. Toronto pitching. The Jays team ERA is 2.51 this year vs. the Orioles. Some others O's notes and stats: *The Baltimore bullpen has allowed just 2 ER in 19 1/3 over the last five games for an ERA of 0.93. *Jose Bautista is 20 for 60 vs. O's pitching on the year with 9 homers and 19 RBI. *Of Bautista's 52 homers on the season, 17.3 percent have come vs. the O's. *Ty Wigginton's five-game RBI streak ended Friday night. Wigginton is batting .351 (13 for 37) over his last nine games. Wigginton's RBI streak tied Adam Jones for the longest by an Oriole on the year. *Nick Markakis is 8 for 18 with three doubles during a four-game batting streak. *The Orioles have been out-scored 83-45 by Toronto in 2010. *After going 19-40 last year after August 1st, the Orioles are 29-20 since August 1st this year. *The Orioles need to go 2-7 or better to avoid 100 losses and 4-5 or better to top last season's win total of 64.
