About last night: Watch the Orioles' eighth-inning slugfest

So ... about that eighth inning. The Orioles returned home from a 3-3 road trip to face a postseason-bound Royals team in a rematch of the 2014 ALCS.

With his team trailing 6-4 mid-eighth, Jonathan Schoop led off the bottom of the frame with a double. Pinch-hitter Steve Clevenger reached on an error, and after a J.J. Hardy strikeout, Gerardo Parra singled to load the bases.

And up stepped Nolan Reimold. On a 2-0 count, Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera grooved a 95-mph fastball that Reimold completely crushed, hitting off the left field foul pole. Grand slam.

Reimold had his first-career grand slam, which led to Herrera's exit and an 8-6 O's lead, but the Birds were far from finished. Not to be outdone, Manny Machado stepped in and smacked a homer of his own. Cue signature handshake.

After an Adam Jones single, the jubilant emotion of the game turned. Franklin Morales threw a pitch directly into Chris Davis' back, leading the O's slugger to break his bat in frustration. However, the reliever was not ejected from the game, causing Buck Showalter to come out and passionately argue before being tossed himself.

Ball hit Davis on right hip. Davis smashed bat. Now Buck screaming at plate ump. Most demonstrative I've seen him in a while

After play resumed, an RBI double from Steve Pearce and a Schoop walk loaded the bases again with one out for Clevenger's second at-bat of the night. And then, you guessed it: another grand salami, his first career slam.

Two more groundouts and the inning was over, but it was one for the books. The O's led 14-6 and went on to win 14-8. Check stats about the record-breaking inning below before rewatching the grand slams.
