"I played it when I was younger and I've taken ground balls there a few times during the season. I'll just go down there and see what happens," Angle said. "The plan is to go to Florida for a week and work with Bobby Dickerson and (Mike) Bordick and get a lot of work in and see where I go from there. If that's what needs to be done to stay in the big leagues and help the team win, that's what I need to do. We'll see after next week and get a feel for it from there. "I've been told my whole life, the more positions you play and the more things you can do, the better opportunities you'll have." Angle stopped by the equipment room to get a protective cup. "I thought that was a real intelligent move," manager Buck Showalter said. Showalter commented on Adam Jones' selection as Most Valuable Oriole. "Adam would be the first to tell you he could make a case for a lot of guys, but Jonesy's had a great year," Showalter said. "Played a Gold Glove center field and throwing as well as anybody can, and more than anything, he's had a very valuable effort year. With maybe one exception, there's nobody who's played the game harder in the major leagues from the first pitch of spring training than him. And to be rewarded for that, I'm pretty proud of him." Nick Markakis is playing in his 160th game tonight. Update: J.J. Hardy hit a two-out, two-run homer off Jon Lester in the bottom of the third inning to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead. Hardy ties his career high with 80 RBIs to go along with his 30 homers. This is the fifth time in franchise history that the Orioles have two 30-home run players (Mark Reynolds has 37), It's the first time since Brady Anderson and Rafael Palmeiro in 1996. Update II: Alfredo Simon balked in the tying run with two outs in the top of the fourth. Marco Scutaro, who doubled with one out and took third on a grounder, crossed the plate.
