Ayala undecided about WBC (with quotes)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Reliever Luis Ayala hasn't made a final decision on whether he will pitch for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Ayala said he expects to inform the team Friday morning. The Orioles made the assumption that Ayala would leave camp to participate in the WBC, along with center fielder Adam Jones, reliever Pedro Strop, infielder Jonathan Schoop, and catchers Chris Robinson and Allan de San Miguel. The team would prefer that Ayala rest after pitching for Mexico in the Caribbean Series, but it can't influence his decision. Ayala still hasn't thrown since reporting to camp. "They've said it's my decision, you know?" Ayala said. "They haven't said nothing. I talked to the guy from the Mexican team yesterday. I'll make the decision tonight." Here's more from Ayala: "I had my workout today and I'm trying to get right. I have to be healthy. That's the one thing I can control is my workout. I just pitched all of December and January and I feel good. "My last game was four days ago. I'm ready. They know me and when they say, 'Yeah, we're going to give you more time.' It's good for them to give me some rest. I don't need to throw too much. I could pitch in a game right now. strop.jpg
