Back in the O's clubhouse, Matt Lindstrom hopes to get activated today (update)

After a stay on the disabled list since May 11, Matt Lindstrom could be back on the Orioles' active roster officially at some point today. He has pitched four times in the minors on an injury-rehab assignment and is back in the Orioles' clubhouse today waiting to find out if he's getting activated in time for tonight's game. "I'm in here being evaluated by the doctor and training staff, just to make sure everything's good," Lindstrom said. "I don't know anything other than that. Depending what happens, I'm waiting to hear. Everything went well with my rehab and my finger is better." Lindstrom last pitched for the Orioles on May 10. He's been out with a slightly torn ligament in his right middle finger. He pitched twice in the Gulf Coast League on June 18 and 20, allowing one run in two innings, and twice for Double-A Bowie, Friday and Sunday. In those two games, he pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and three runs (one earned) with one walk and a strikeout. He feels ready to go and said he doesn't need any more tune-up games in the minors. "I don't think I need a couple more. I feel that I'm ready. Sometimes you find it hard to get that intensity that you feel in a big league game in a Gulf Coast League game at 11 o'clock. That was a tough step for me but I think that I'm ready," Lindstrom added. "The biggest hump to get over was throwing the ball without any hesitation. In the back of your mind, not feeling anything like that. Before I left Florida, we got over that hump. That is why it's taken a little longer. It feels like forever since I've been on the mound. Just looking forward to getting back out there in the bullpen with the guys." He has an ERA of 1.29 in 13 games with the Orioles. Over 14 innings, he has given up 12 hits with four walks to 14 strikeouts and with a batting average against of .226. Right-handed batters are just 6-for-33 (.182) against Lindstrom. He said he is 100 percent now and not limited in any way. "I've thrown all my pitches," he said. "So like I said, the biggest hump was to get over that feeling in the back of your mind that it might hurt or something might go wrong and you can't throw as hard as you want to. I'm over that, so looking to get going." Update: O's manager Buck Showalter said Lindstrom would likely not get activated today, but probably tomorrow after he takes part in some long toss today.
