Baseball America lists seven Nationals in their annual top 100

Baseball America has announced its much anticipated top 100 list for 2015 top prospects. Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is No. 1, while Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is listed as No. 2.

Giolitothrowingwhitesidebar.jpgThe Nationals are well represented on the list with three players in the top 50 and six players in the top 96. It is no surprise that top prospect Lucas Giolito cracked the top 10 and is No. 7 overall.

New to the list this season for the Nationals are right-handers Reynaldo Lopez (No. 49) and newly acquired Joe Ross (No. 96). The Nationals have built their organization around strong pitching with five of the six selections pitchers.

Right-hander Erick Fedde is at No. 90 and right-hander A.J. Cole is at No. 91. The only non-pitcher from the Nats on the list is outfielder Michael A. Taylor, ranked at No. 32. Shortstop Trea Turner, who will be the player to be named in the deal that sent Stephen Souza Jr. to the Rays, is listed at No. 65, though he is still technically property of the Padres.

Here is executive editor John Manuel's capsule on Giolito.

All of these prospects have been detailed by Manuel in my blogs since the beginning of January if you would like to check them out.
