Bergesen's day is done (updated)

Brad Bergesen is shaking hands in the dugout and seeking warmth beneath a sweatshirt, so we'll assume that he's finished for the day. Bergesen threw two innings on Wednesday and was making his first start since April 6. He's registered the Orioles' last three complete games, but manager Buck Showalter told reporters earlier today that the right-hander wasn't going nine innings. Showalter settled for 88 pitches in five. Bergesen is charged with two earned runs. A third run scored after Mark Reynolds' throwing error. Bergesen allowed six hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out three. Unfortunately, two of the hits were home runs, by Carlos Santana and Grady Sizemore. Bergesen leaves the game with a 3.38 ERA. It looks pretty good in this rotation. In fact, it jumps out at you and grabs you by the collar. Too bad the offense isn't that aggressive. Nick Markakis just ended a rally in the sixth by grounding into a double play. Derrek Lee did the same thing in the fourth, but at least a run scored. This lineup looks potent on paper. When will it behave that way between the white lines? Jeremy Accardo is on the mound for the bottom of the sixth. Josh Rupe and Michael Gonzalez gave up big insurance runs the first two games of this series. Accardo needs to hold down the Indians and keep this one within reach. Instant update: OK, seriously? Travis Hafner just homered off Accardo to increase the Indians' lead to 4-1.
