Brandon Snyder rejoins the Orioles and now hopes for his chance

It was a unique situation earlier today in the Orioles' clubhouse. Reporters interviewing players that were not yet on the active roster and not certain if they would be. Before the Orioles headed out for batting practice, Brandon Snyder stood by his locker awaiting word on whether he would be on the active roster for tonight. He was activated before tonight's game and is in uniform. As for his season so far at Triple-A Norfolk, where he was batting .276 with nine doubles, five homers, 16 RBIs and an OPS of .798, he's feeling pretty good about that. "You know I started off a little slow but I was still making good swings and hitting the ball hard, just not getting as many hits as I wanted," Snyder said. "Unlike years in the past where I kind of looked more into my numbers, (this time) I looked at how I was feeling at the plate. Still felt good, so kept swinging and told myself they'd start falling and they did. "It's been a great first month and a half so far. Health-wise, I'm feeling great. Everything has been good so far." Snyder is batting .350 against left-handed pitching and .245 versus right-handers. His bat had cooled a bit, but he did go 3-for-8 in his last two Triple-A games. Has he made any changes in his game since last year? "It's more mental stuff," Snyder said. "Just not let the (home) field bother me or let other stuff get to me. Just keep with the process of having good at-bats and good things will happen. "I made a lot of mechanical adjustments with (hitting coach) Jim Presley in spring training that have been helping and helped my power. I hit five homers while I was down there and also a lot of balls that could have gone out of some other parks." Snyder, who went 6-for-20 during a September call-up last year, said it was great to be back with the Orioles. Now he hopes he actually makes it to the roster. "I don't what is going on," Snyder said. "But for me to even be here is a good sign. They like what I was doing and that's all that matters. Whatever happens, happens. God has a plan for everyone and hopefully things will work themselves out. "It would be great (to get to play in the majors again), that is what you hope for. Getting to play a little last year showed me if I work hard, this is something I can do. You are always looking for an opportunity to prove yourself." Update: Snyder has now been activated because the Orioles placed utility infielder Cesar Izturis on the 15-day disabled list.
