Bud Norris takes the mound to try and stop a losing streak tonight

After taking the loss in relief on Wednesday at Arizona, Bud Norris returns to a starting role tonight as he faces Colorado at Camden Yards. Norris is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA for the Orioles and they've won each of his three starts. In his only Camden Yards start, one day after he got traded from Houston, he beat the Astros with six innings of four-hit, two-run ball. In four career starts against the Rockies, he is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA. He has an ERA of 2.57 in two starts at Houston and 17.54 ERA (13 earned runs over 6 2/3 innings) in two starts at Colorado. Even though Colorado has a losing record overall at 58-65, the Rockies have won six of their last seven games, scoring 48 runs in that stretch. The 65-56 Orioles try to snap a four-game losing streak tonight. Some other notes on the O's: * Orioles pitching gave up four homers last night, making it three times in the last four games they have allowed three or more. The O's staff has given up 10 homers over those four games and 25 over the last 14 games. * When Wei-Yin Chen gave up four runs last night, it ended a run of nine straight games since Aug. 3 where the O's starting pitcher had allowed three or fewer earned runs. * O's starters have recorded seven quality starts over the last 10 games, pitching to an ERA of 3.16 in that time. * Chris Davis went 0-for-2 last night to snap an eight-game hitting streak. He hit .303 with four homers and 10 RBIs during the streak. J.J. Hardy went 0-for-4 to snap an 11-game hitting streak. Hardy hit .318 with four homers and seven RBIs during his hitting streak. Hardy was scratched from tonight's starting lineup due to back spasms.
