Bundy to undergo Tommy John surgery, Orioles and Indians lineups

After consulting today with orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrew in Gulf Breeze, Fla., Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy will undergo ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow Thursday morning, according to an industry source. Bundy was examined yesterday by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens before returning to Florida for a follow-up opinion. An MRI taken on Bundy's right elbow back in April came back clean, but he's now been diagnosed with a small tear. Baseball America rated Bundy as the second-best prospect in baseball before the season. He was supposed to enter Double-A Bowie's rotation, but he hasn't pitched since spring training. Bundy, the fourth overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, felt discomfort in his right forearm/elbow while throwing from 120 feet Monday morning in Sarasota. He received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection from Andrews on April 29 and was told to rest for six weeks. The normal recovery time for Tommy John surgery is one year. I'll have further updates later today after meeting with manager Buck Showalter. For the Orioles Nick Markakis RF Manny Machado 3B Adam Jones CF Chris Davis 1B Matt Wieters C J.J. Gurka won't participate due to an injury. Urrutia is 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored today for Bowie - his fifth multi-hit game in the last eight. He's batting .367 with 37 RBIs. Urrutia and Single-A Frederick left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez have been selected to play for the World Team in the Futures Game during All-Star week. Nolan Reimold is 3-for-5 with a run scored today at Bowie, by far his best game since joining the Baysox on an injury-rehab assignment. He was 2-for-27 before today.
