Bundy shut down again

Pitcher Dylan Bundy experienced a setback today while throwing from 120 feet at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota. A team official confirmed tonight that Bundy felt more discomfort in his right forearm/elbow area. He's been shut down and is scheduled to be examined by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens on Tuesday in Baltimore. Bundy also will be examined again by orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews, who administered the platelet rich plasma injection on April 29. Bundy had been diagnosed with right flexor mass tightness in the area where the forearm meets the elbow. An earlier MRI on his elbow came back clean. Andrews recommended that Bundy be shut down for six weeks. The Orioles' top pitching prospect had extended his throwing progression to 120 feet and appeared on the verge of moving to a mound. Bundy still hasn't pitched since spring training, and today's news should further delay his return. Also, outfielder Steve Pearce received a cortisone injection in his left wrist today. Pearce will fly to Sarasota later this week.
