Can he get to 25 home runs? Of course, it is possible. The amazing rookie season of Bryce Harper continues into its final week of the regular season. With six games remaining before the postseason, Harper needs three homers to tie Tony Conigliaro's 1964 rookie home run record as a teenager. In that season, Conigliaro hit .290 in 111 games with 24 homers and 52 RBIs. This season, Harper has hit .264 with 21 homers, 17 stolen bases and 58 RBIs in 133 games. He has hit a home run in his last two games at Philadelphia, the first round trippers for him since September 14. If he starts the last six games, and working on an average of 3.3 at-bats per game, Harper will have between 19.8 to about 27 at-bats to hit three homers to tie, or four homers to break the record for a teenager. So, if playing the average conservatively, Harper would have to hit a home run almost every 5th at-bat for the final six games to nab the record for a rookie as a teenager. It will be a tough record to break, as Harper would have to hit four homers in the final six games. But knowing Harper and his aggressiveness in every at-bat, it is possible. Also, Adam LaRoche is two RBIs away from 100, and Ryan Zimmerman is six RBIs away from the century mark. LaRoche could get to 100 as early as tonight. And what about a six RBI night for Zimmerman on his birthday? That would make for spectacular start to what the Nationals hope is memory making weekend.
