Can the Orioles end super Nova's win streak tonight?

Last night, the Orioles' Brian Matusz picked up his first win since last June 6. Tonight, the Orioles will try to hand Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova his first loss since last June 3. Over his last 20 starts since that loss to the Angels on the road, Nova is 15-0 with an ERA of 3.61. The Yankees are 17-3 in those 20 games which includes a win for Nova on April 11 at Baltimore when he gave up two runs over seven innings in beating the Orioles at Camden Yards. Nova currently holds the major leagues' longest win streak since Jose Contreras won 17 straight decisions from Aug. 21, 2005-July 4, 2006 with the White Sox. But Nova has not pitched all that well this year, despite a 3-0 record. His ERA is 5.18 and opposing batters are hitting .343 off him. Right-handed batters are hitting .377 against Nova with eight doubles, two triples and two homers over 61 at-bats. Meanwhile, the Orioles' pitching stats continue to be pretty outstanding. The team ERA on the year is now down to 2.94 which is second in the AL to Texas' mark of 2.92. In going 7-2 over their last nine games, the Orioles have given up just 16 total runs with a team ERA of 1.56 in that stretch. The starting pitchers have eight quality starts and an ERA of 1.88 over those nine games. Outstanding. The bullpen pitchers can top that, allowing just one run over their past 20 innings and working to an ERA of 0.63 over the last 15 games with three earned runs allowed in 42 2/3 innings in that time. Ridiculous. Where the Orioles' pitching ranks right now: * Team ERA of 2.94 is second in the American League and fourth in MLB. * 13 quality starts ranks seventh in the AL. * .233 batting average against ranks third in the AL, seventh in MLB. * Rotation ERA of 3.53 ranks sixth in the AL. * Bullpen ERA of 1.76 ranks first in the AL and first in MLB.
