Chris Davis on O's being eliminated and potential contract talks

As Chris Davis puts the finishing touches on a tremendous season, he does so knowing he is under team control and will be an Oriole through the 2015 season. But he said today if the club chooses to explore a contract extension with him this offseason, he is open to that. "I would love to stay in Baltimore," Davis said. "This has been like a second home for me. This has been a place where I've really felt like I've been accepted, been loved and really appreciated. That's rare in this game to find a place where you can call it home. That's between obviously my agent and the front office, but I'd love to stay in Baltimore." Davis, who is batting .286 with 52 homers and 136 RBIs, took a few moments to reflect on the Orioles being eliminated from playoff contention. "We have to be proud of the fact we gave ourselves a shot to be in the pennant race," he said. "Toward the end, we were disappointed in how it ended. You hate to say that things don't go your way, but I feel like the last couple of weeks, any and everything that could have gone wrong really did. "Playing an 18-inning game in Tampa and then turning around and playing a day game after that, I really think that was the straw that broke our back. "You could see guys were emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. We were reaching for something that wasn't there. Rightfully so, we had given it everything we had the last couple of months. "I've heard guys say we've raised the bar here. We expect ourselves to be in the playoffs every year and the fact we are disappointed we're not is a good sign."
