Club source: Triple-A prospect Tyler Moore to play left field in "near future"

The Tyler Moore-to-the-outfield experience is about to begin. MASNsports.com has learned that Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs prospect Tyler Moore will switch from first base to the outfield for some games in the "near future." According to a club source, Moore will play left field. The exact game or games the power hitting prospect will assume his new position is still to be determined and the move to the outfield is not considered a permanent adjustment. Moore is off to a scorching start with a .300 batting average through eight games, slamming four homers and recording 10 RBIs. The Brandon, Miss., native worked in the outfield during instructional league at the end of last season, then concentrated on the position during offseason workouts in Houston. Moore spent a lot of time during spring training with Nationals outfield coordinator Tony Tarasco. Moore has hit 66 homers in the past 274 games since the beginning of the 2010 campaign. With Adam LaRoche currently at first base for the Nationals, having Moore adept at multiple positions will help build his versatility so he can become more attractive and could hasten his arrival to the big leagues.
