Could Jimenez get another start with the Orioles?

Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez will rejoin the Orioles on Tuesday after being on the paternity list.

The Orioles will need to make a corresponding roster move, and it may not involve Tyler Wilson. A decision is pending.

Manager Buck Showalter indicated that Jimenez could be a candidate to start Thursday's makeup game in Minnesota. The Orioles want to give Kevin Gausman an extra day of rest, which would put him in line to start Friday against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

Wilson also would be a candidate to start Thursday if he isn't optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles recalled him while placing Jimenez on the paternity list.

Jimenez hasn't pitched since July 8. He held the Twins to one earned run (two total) over seven innings in his first start on April 7, walking none and striking out nine.

Jimenez is 5-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 10 career appearances (nine starts) versus the Twins. He's 4-1 with a 1.82 ERA in six starts at Target Field.

There's always the possibility that he's traded before the Orioles board their flight, so stay tuned.

The Orioles are still hoping to activate outfielder Hyun Soo Kim from the disabled list on Tuesday. He's in Double-A Bowie's lineup again tonight.

Kim went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts yesterday, with Erie starting left-handed knuckleballer Josh Turley. Tonight may not prove as challenging, though Showalter warned that it probably will be "a guy who throws between his legs."

Left-hander T.J. McFarland, on the disabled list with a knee injury, is close to throwing off a mound.

Reliever Darren O'Day felt good today after striking out the side yesterday in his first appearance since June 1.

Former Orioles infielder Mark Reynolds and catcher Nick Hundley are here with the Rockies.
