David Lough hits walk-off homer in 10th as O's stun Red Sox 5-4

A bitter defeat turned into an amazing victory.

Down 4-3, the Orioles scored twice off Boston closer Koji Uehara in the last of the tenth for a remarkable 5-4 victory over the Red Sox to end their five-game losing streak.

It looked like the Orioles let one get away when they blew a one-run lead in the ninth as the Red Sox tied the game at 3-3. Zach Britton came on and walked leadoff batter Dustin Pedroia. With one out, second baseman Rey Navarro made a nice play up the middle but flipped the ball wildly to second and could not record an out. Then, an infield hit off Britton's glove loaded the bases.

Still, with a chance to get out of it and win 3-2, Pablo Sandoval hit a grounder to third. Manny Machado stepped on third for the second out but threw the ball past first base for his fourth error of the year as the tie run scored and Britton suffered his first blown save of 2015.

Boston went ahead 4-3 in the 10th when Xander Bogaerts led off the inning with a solo homer off Brad Brach.

Despite not earning the win, Wei-Yin Chen had an excellent outing. He went eight innings, the longest outing by an O's pitcher this year, allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. O's starters had pitched to an ERA of 9.82 during the previous five games.

Chen became the third O's starter to go seven or more innings this year. Miguel Gonzalez went seven on April 14 against the Yankees, and Ubaldo Jimenez did likewise April 11 versus Toronto. The eight innings matches Chen's career high.

Jimmy Paredes had a career-high four hits in the win, going 4-for-5 with a solo homer and two RBIs. He is 5-for-10 with a double, two homers and four RBIs in this series.

In the first inning, Alejandro De Aza and Paredes led off with back-to-back doubles for a 1-0 lead. Paredes moved to third on a groundout and scored on Davis' sac fly. De Aza snapped a 1-for-18 stretch with his double.

But Boston quickly tied it 2-2 on Mike Napoli's two-run homer in the second. Batting .143 beginning today, Napoli hit a 1-0 pitch off Chen off the right-field foul pole for his first homer.

Paredes homered in the fifth inning to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead. The score held there until the wild finish over the last two innings which saw the O's blow a lead, fall behind but then comeback to win.
