Davis and Cruz go back-to-back (Davis homers again, Gonzalez done)

PITTSBURGH - The Orioles scored six runs in Sunday's loss to the Royals, perhaps a sign that their offense was ready to bust loose. They have six runs tonight in five innings. Adam Jones hit a three-run homer in the ninth in Kansas City, and his RBI double in the fifth tonight plated Manny Machado for a 3-1 lead over the Pirates. Machado made a tremendous slide to avoid catcher Chris Stewart's tag, reaching for the plate with his left hand. That's two aggressive sends from acting third base coach Brian Graham. He must have been studying Bobby Dickerson. The Orioles weren't finished with Pirates left-hander Francisco Liriano. Chris Davis launched a two-run homer to right field and Nelson Cruz followed a shot to deep center, increasing the lead to 6-1 and drawing boos from the crowd at PNC Park. Davis has four homers this season. Cruz has 13, leaving him two behind White Sox rookie Jose Abreu for the American League lead. The Orioles went back-to-back for the second time this season. Davis and Matt Wieters turned the trick on April 13 against the Blue Jays. Liriano was removed for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the fifth. He's done after allowing six runs on nine hits and throwing 99 pitches. Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk's Kevin Gausman has allowed four runs and six hits in five innings, with one walk, six strikeouts and one homer. He's thrown 87 pitches, 56 for strikes. Update: Chris Davis produce his seventh career multi-homer game and the sixth two-homer game with another shot into the center field seats in the seventh inning. His last multi-homer game came on June 29, 2013. Davis jumped on a 92 mph fastball from Pirates reliever Jared Hughes and increased the lead to 7-1. The seven runs are the most scored by the Orioles since they beat Toronto 11-4 on April 24. Update II: Ike Davis homered to lead off the bottom of the seventh and end Gonzalez's night. Gonzalez allowed two runs and seven hits in six-plus innings, with no walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 100 pitches, 71 for strikes. Gonzalez has permitted four runs in his last two starts covering 13 innings. Tommy Hunter gave up back-to-back singles before getting a strikeout and double play. Zach Britton is warming in the bullpen.

Davis hits three home runs in 9-2 win
Jones extends hitting streak (O's lead 2-1)
