Davis' bat keeps sizzling in Game 2 (O's win 6-3)

Mike Wright's scoreless streak came to an end only one batter into Game 2 of today's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Chris Davis' hot streak continued. More on that later.

Left fielder David Lough almost made a leaping catch, but Eaton circled the bases.

Wright hadn't surrendered a run in 14 1/3 innings over his first two major league starts.

Jose Abreu singled with one out, but Adam LaRoche flied out on the 12th pitch of the at-bat and Gordon Beckham struck out looking at a changeup.

Manny Machado led off the bottom of the first inning with his first triple of the season off Chris Beck, making his major league debut. Machado was ejected in the first game for slamming his bat to the ground. He slammed his body to it on the triple, diving head-first into the bag to beat the throw.

Jimmy Paredes walked with one out and Machado scored on Adam Jones' slow roller to third. Up stepped Davis, who homered twice yesterday and hit a two-run shot today in Game 1. Davis delivered a ground-rule double into right-center field to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead.

Davis' average has climbed back up to .222. He's got 11 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Toby Basner, who ejected Machado, isn't working Game 2. It's a five-man umpiring crew and he wasn't scheduled to do both ends of the doubheader.

Down on the farm, Henry Urrutia hit a two-run walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Triple-A Norfolk a 6-5 victory over Syracuse.

Dariel Alvarez hit two solo home runs and leads the club with six. It was a good day for Cuban outfielders.

Update: LaRoche hit a two-run homer off Wright in the top of the third, but the Orioles scored twice in the bottom half to take a 4-3 lead.

Jones singled, Davis walked and Steve Clevenger delivered an RBI single. J.J. Hardy reached on an infield hit as Davis scored.

Jones rolled his left ankle on an awkward slide at the plate and stayed down for a few seconds. He hopped down the dugout steps, but stayed in the game.

Update II: Wright allowed three runs and six hits in five innings, with no walks, two strikeouts and two home runs. He threw 81 pitches, 54 for strikes.

Oliver Drake replaced Wright in the sixth with the Orioles leading 4-3.

Davis has an RBI double and two walks in Game 2.

Update III: Travis Snider singled with two outs to score Ryan Flaherty, who led off with a double, and give the Orioles a 5-3 lead in the sixth.

Snider picked up his first RBI since April 23 in Toronto.

Oliver Drake walked three batters in the top of the sixth, but he didn't allow a run. Gordon Beckham was doubled off first base on Conor Gillaspie's fly ball to Snider for the Orioles' 15th outfield assist of the season and second today.

Update IV: The Orioles increased their lead to 6-3 in the seventh on David Lough's infield hit that scored Clevenger, who's 2-for-4 today. Flaherty also singled for his second hit in Game 2.

Darren O'Day is working the eighth after Brad Brach retired the side in order in the seventh.

Update V: The Orioles gained a split of the doubleheader with a 6-3 victory in Game 2. Wright gets the win and Zach Britton records his 13th save.

The Orioles win the three-game series, which began on April 27.

O'Day retired the side in order in the eighth.

The Orioles are 22-24.
