Detwiler pitches well in loss

Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler went five innings Friday night and took the loss for Harrisburg in their 3-0 setback versus Altoona.
Despite the loss, Detwiler allowed only three hits, two runs (of which only one was earned), one walk and had a season high seven strikeouts.
Detwiler said the start went well but he had some bad luck. He told me his mechanics were a lot better and he "felt like (he) had a clue tonight."
Ross told me that was the one thing he wanted to work with pitching coach Randy Tomlin on between starts was his mechanics.
Detwiler said in his last outing he had trouble with his mechanics after the first inning. This time he felt in a better rhythm throughout.
Ross is now 1-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 6 starts, but this was the second game in a row where he pitched five innings. He has 24 strikes and only 6 walks, of which just two walks allowed last three games.
Also, John Lannan pitches tonight for Harrisburg. Scott Olsen has a rehab start tonight for Hagerstown. Jordan Zimmermann pitches Monday for Potomac.
