Dickerson has strained shoulder (with quotes)

Chris Dickerson was scratched from the Orioles' lineup tonight after straining his left shoulder during batting practice. Dickerson ended the session and walked off the field with head athletic trainer Richie Bancells. Nolan Reimold replaced Dickerson as the designated hitter and contributed a three-run homer to the Orioles' 6-1 win over the Rangers. Dickerson will undergo an MRI on Friday if the shoulder hasn't improved. Manager Buck Showalter said Dickerson has a history of soreness in that shoulder. Dickerson is batting .253/.282/.424 with five doubles, four homers and 13 RBIs in 45 games. "I gave it a lot of thought and I thought Nolan had a chance to hit a big home run for us tonight and it worked out," Showalter quipped. "No, Chris strained his left shoulder during batting practice and didn't like the way he felt afterward and decided it would be best to scratch him. If he doesn't feel better tomorrow, we'll probably get an MRI on it. He's had some history of some challenges in that area. He's got some experience with it, so we'll see how it feels tomorrow. "I'm hoping that it feels a lot better, but we're going to kind of lean on him because he's got a lot of experience with what it feels like when it's not right."
