Dontrelle Willis' debut as a starter with Triple-A Norfolk has been put on hold.
Willis' role isn't changing again. He was scratched from tonight's start in Toledo because of a stomach virus.
Willis was signed in spring training to be a left-handed relief specialist, but the Orioles agreed to let him go back to starting after he went on the disabled list with a sore forearm, and later left the Tides. The Orioles removed him from the restricted list and sent him to extended spring training.
Left-hander Rich Rundles, signed out of the independent Atlantic League, has replaced Willis tonight. He's the 17th starter used by the Tides this season.
Is that a lot?
Meanwhile, Double-A Bowie's Bobby Bundy left tonight's game after being struck on the left leg by a line drive from Reading's Sebastian Valle with two outs in the fifth inning. Mike Belfiore replaced him.
Bundy, the older brother of top prospect Dylan Bundy, allowed three runs (two earned) and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked two, struck out five and threw 83 pitches.
NOTE: Dylan Bundy shut out Myrtle Beach over five innings tonight, allowing two hits, walking two, striking out two and throwing a wild pitch. He threw 60 pitches, 36 for strikes.
Brings back memories of the Delmarva days.
