Draft and game updates (updated)

The Orioles have made it through the first 30 rounds of the First-Year Player Draft. Bring on the last 20 picks tomorrow. So far, they've taken 10 right-handers, five left-handers, two catchers, one first baseman, four third basemen, two shortstops and six outfielders. They've selected 21 college or junior college players, including 12 of their 15 pitchers. Orioles right-hander Chris Jakubauskas is shutting out Oakland on two hits over four innings, with one walk and four strikeouts. He hung a curveball to catcher Kurt Suzuki with two on and two outs in the fourth, but it produced a fly ball to deep left field. The only run tonight came on J.J. Hardy's leadoff homer. Down on the farm, Double-A Bowie's Steve Johnson has struck out four New Hampshire batters in two scoreless innings. Single-A Delmarva's Jarret Martin, an 18th-round pick in 2009, lasted only two-thirds of an inning against West Virginia. He allowed six runs (five earned) and four hits, with four walks. Update: Clliff Pennington sent a shot up the middle with two outs in the fifth inning that nailed Jakubauskas on the left ankle. He limped around the mound as head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and manager Buck Showalter raced out of the dugout. Jakubauskas stayed in the game and retired Jemile Weeks, but he might be done. The bullpen is busy.
