Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Mike Wright is a candidate to start Saturday afternoon in Toronto on three days' rest.
Wright threw 65 pitches in six scoreless innings last night at Triple-A Norfolk. He's on the disabled list with a strained calf muscle.
Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen is expected to start Monday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
The Orioles will make another roster move before Friday's series opener in Toronto.
Shortstop J.J. Hardy may accompany the Orioles on their road trip. A decision should come within the next few hours.
Hardy is eligible to come off the disabled list on Sept. 8.
Hunter Harvey will pitch for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League if his arm feels good in the fall instructional league. The Orioles would like Rule 5 pick Jason Garcia to pitch in the AFL if he's eligible.
Update: Garcia is eligible for the AFL due to his limited major league service time.
The Orioles are hoping that Dylan Bundy can pitch in the fall instructional league. There are no plans for him to pitch in the AFL.
Showalter said he spoke to Matt Wieters last night and again this afternoon before starting him behind the plate again tonight. Wieters felt like he was ready to go back-to-back.
