SARASOTA, Fla. - Miguel Gonzalez remains scheduled to throw a full bullpen session Friday afternoon.
Gonzalez's back feels good following yesterday's 25-pitch session.
"I feel great. No problems. I'm ready to work with the team now," he said.
"I had it before and I knew exactly what I needed to do for a couple of days."
Nick Markakis shaved the rest of his facial hair and his head. We almost didn't recognize him as he passed through the clubhouse.
Same with Jemile Weeks, who cut off his long dreads to conform with team policy. I thought the Orioles claimed someone else off waivers.
You want real news? Kevin Gausman no longer has donuts stashed in his locker or taped around the edges. The monkey is off his back.
"I'm off donuts," he said.
"I've got to cycle off them slowly. It was four an inning, then four a day, then three. Eventually, I'll be clean."
So far, this is my favorite interview of the spring.
"I eat enough sweets already," he continued. "I think I can manage."
The training staff never pestered Gausman about his donut diet, though there had to be concerns about the long-term effects of his powdered addiction.
"They told me, 'You can do whatever you want to do. Just pitch well,' " Gausman said.
