Eight Orioles spring training games airing on MASN

SARASOTA, Fla. - Eight of the Orioles’ spring training games will air on MASN, exceeding last year’s total by one.

The eight games are an even split between the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota and road trips. Two of the eight will be played at night. The broadcasts will be done remotely from Baltimore.

The first televised game is the opener against the Pirates on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium. The last broadcast in Florida is March 22 against the Pirates in Bradenton, the team’s shortest drive of the spring.

The eight televised games are four more than in 2023.

The Orioles occasionally have added an extra game before workouts back in Baltimore but none currently are listed.

The March 3 game also is listed as an ESPN broadcast.

Broadcasters Kevin Brown, Jim Palmer, Ben McDonald, Geoff Arnold, Brett Hollander and Ben Wagner return, the last three as primary radio play-by-play voices. Rob Long and Melanie Newman will work as O's Xtra hosts. Brian Roberts and Dave Johnson occasionally will provide analysis on MASN.

Wagner will serve as primary play-by-play backup on MASN, and Arnold and Hollander will make select appearances. Newman will do some radio play-by-play, also per the team's press release.

The Orioles relocated their spring home from Fort Lauderdale to Sarasota in 2010, with renovations to the complex made in 2011.

Pitchers and catchers reported today and the first workout is Thursday morning. The first full-squad workout is Tuesday.

Fans are invited to watch workouts on the back fields from approximately 9 a.m.-1 p.m., free of charge, from Feb. 13-Feb. 21. They will be treated to "an expanded viewing area."

Charm City Eats food truck will be there on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., selling crab cakes and other Maryland-favorite food items.

The first regular season game will be played March 27 against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The home opener is March 31 against the Red Sox.
