ESPN's Keith Law ranks four O's young pitchers among top 43 prospects in baseball

Another top 100 prospects list is out and it is another one that shows five Orioles prospects among the game's best young talent. Here is the ranking today from ESPN's Keith Law, posted on ESPN.com: No. 23 - Kevin Gausman No. 31 - Dylan Bundy No. 38 - Hunter Harvey No. 43 - Eduardo Rodriguez No. 86 - Jonathan Schoop That is four O's young hurlers among the top 43 prospects in baseball, pretty strong stuff. Here is a surprising stat. The Orioles have more prospects in this top 43 than the rest of the AL East combined: Orioles-4, Boston-2, Toronto-1, New York/Tampa Bay-0. In this top 100 overall, here is the rundown: Boston, seven; Orioles, five; New York and Tampa Bay, three; and Toronto, two. Last week, Baseball Prospectus had five O's in its top 101 list with Gausman No. 10, Bundy No. 15, Harvey at No. 58, Rodriguez No. 61 and Schoop No. 82. Three Orioles were ranked in the top 100 by MLB.com with Bundy at No. 20, Gausman No. 31 and Rodriguez at No. 68. The ESPN ranking does represent the highest ranking for Harvey and Rodriguez. Gausman, who turned 23 on Jan. 6, went 3-5 with a 5.66 ERA for the Orioles last year, pitching to an ERA of 7.66 in five starts and to a 3.52 ERA in 15 relief appearances. In the minors, between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, he went 3-6 with a 3.51 ERA. The 21-year-old Bundy is rehabbing after undergoing ligament-reconstructive surgery on June 27. He went 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA at three levels of the minors in 2012, reaching Double-A. In 103 2/3 innings, he fanned 119. Bundy even became the fourth player from his 2011 draft class to reach the big leagues when he made two September relief appearances for the Orioles. The 19-year-old Harvey, a right-hander drafted with the 22nd pick in the first round by the Orioles last June, went 0-1 with a 1.78 ERA over eight starts between the Gulf Coast League and short-season Single-A Aberdeen. If you count five no-hit innings Harvey pitched in a New York-Penn League playoff game on Sept. 7 for Aberdeen, he gave up 21 hits with six walks and 40 strikeouts over 30 1/3 innings this season. A native of Valencia, Venezuela, the 20-year-old Rodriguez went 10-7 with a 3.41 ERA over 25 starts this past season at Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie, where he went 3-0 with an 0.36 ERA over his last four regular season starts. Baseball America ranked Rodriguez as the No. 8 prospect in the Carolina League and rated him No. 9 in the Eastern League. Schoop hit .256 with nine homers, 34 RBIs and a .697 OPS in 70 games in 2013 at Triple-A Norfolk. Schoop's bat was heating up there in May when his season was interrupted for over two months by a stress fracture in his lower back. He was an O's September callup and homered in his third big league at-bat on Sept. 26 off Kyle Drabek.
