Eveland going on paternity leave Tuesday

The Orioles will place left-hander Dana Eveland on paternity leave Tuesday as he joins his wife, Ashley, for the birth of their second son in California. Under Major League Baseball rules, Eveland can be away from the team for three days. In his absence, the Orioles could choose to activate reliever Matt Lindstrom from the disabled list. Lindstrom is scheduled to pitch one inning today at Double-A Bowie before completing his injury-rehab assignment. He allowed three runs (one earned) and three hits in 1 1/3 innings on Friday. If the reports on Lindstrom are favorable today, he could come off the disabled list and give manager Buck Showalter another bullpen option for the later innings. Of course, the Orioles would have to make another roster move when Eveland returns Friday. Chris Davis isn't in the Orioles' lineup today, but he's expected to start again on Tuesday. He's in an 0-for-28 slump and the Nationals are starting left-hander Ross Detwiler, so the Orioles are leaning heavily toward the right side. "Some other people need to play and are going to play," manager Buck Showalter said. "He'll play (Tuesday). He's not the only guy who's not swinging the bat particularly well right now. I don't know where the fascination with him is."
