Left-hander Dana Eveland will make Saturday's start against the Indians at Camden Yards.
Eveland's name appeared among the starters on the magnetic board outside the clubhouse, and manager Buck Showalter confirmed the assignment while meeting with reporters.
Eveland has posted a 3.00 ERA in 11 games, with 23 hits allowed, 11 walks and 13 strikeouts in 27 innings. In his only start on May 11, he allowed three runs and five hits, and walked six batters, in six innings against the Rays.
Eveland threw two scoreless innings in relief last night, and Showalter kept the left-hander's pitch count down to make him available on Saturday.
The Indians will face three left-handers in this four-game series, including Wei-Yin Chen tonight and Brian Matusz on Sunday. They're hitting .216 against southpaws this season.
Showalter considered Tommy Hunter for Saturday's start, but he wants to keep a right-hander in the bullpen as the long reliever to back up the lefties.
In other news, Nick Johnson's MRI on his right wrist is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow. The club is listing his injury as a sprain until getting the results.
Steel Russell, the son of Orioles bench coach John Russell, threw out Carl Crawford trying to steal second base today in a Gulf Coast League game.
Left-hander Dontrelle Willis is starting tonight for Triple-A Norfolk. He will be the 18th pitcher to start for the Tides this season.
Dylan Bundy is starting tonight for Single-A Frederick.
